How to find out the password from your wifi on. How to find out the password from your Wi-Fi network? We look at the forgotten Wi-Fi password in the router settings

As soon as the computer connects to a Wi-Fi network, it will no longer ask for a password from it. And most users safely forget this password, especially if it was written down on some piece of paper. This is not a problem exactly until you need to connect another device to the same Wi-Fi - for example, a phone or tablet.

I will show you several proven ways to see the password that are suitable for any popular operating system (Windows 7, 8, 10).

The easiest way to find out your wifi password

1 . Click the left mouse button on this tray icon.

It is located in the lower right corner of the screen, between the alphabet and the clock. Sometimes this icon is hidden under a small arrow.

2. In the window that appears, right-click on the network from which you want to find out the password, and select "Properties".

3 . We put a tick in "Display entered characters" and the computer shows the wifi password in the "Network security key" field.

Another easy way

This option is a little more complicated, but it shows all the wireless networks that the computer has connected to, and not just the active ones.

1 . Right-click on the tray icon and select "Network and Sharing Center".

2. A window will open, on the left side of which we select "Wireless Network Management".

3 . Right-click on the desired network and select "Properties".

4 . Go to the "Security" tab and put a bird next to "Display input characters."

If there is no “Wireless Network Management” item, then click on “Change adapter settings”, right-click on the desired connection and select “Status”. In the window, click on the "Wireless Properties" button, go to the "Security" tab and check the box next to "Display input characters."

We pull out the password through the program

There is such a wonderful free program WirelessKeyView. Thanks to it, you can see the passwords from all the points to which the computer was connected. You do not need to install it: just download from the official site, unpack and run the program file. If wifi hotspots do not appear immediately, click on the icon

That's all :)

Of the minuses, it should be noted that some antiviruses swear at it, as the program climbs into the settings (my Kaspersky, for example, made a panic). If that doesn't bother you, use it.

We look at the password from our Wi-Fi in the router settings

This method is good because only thanks to it you can find out the password, which the computer does not know at all. For example, Windows was reinstalled, but you don’t remember the password for your Wi-Fi and now you can’t connect. So in this case, the router will help.

Router - this is the thing that "distributes" the Internet. It looks something like this:

In its settings, among other things, the password is stored. To find it, you need to connect the router to the computer via a network cable (usually it comes with the kit).

If the computer remembers the password and connects to the network, then you can not do this.

1 . We open the browser (program for the Internet), in the address bar we type 192.168.1.1 and press the Enter button on the keyboard.

Most often, after this, a login / password request appears. If this does not happen, try other addresses: 192.168.0.0, 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.0. But if they don’t fit either, then take the router, turn it over and find its IP address on the sticker.

For example, I didn’t even have an address on the sticker. Then I copied the router model from it (in my case, Huawei HG8245A) and entered the query “huawei hg8245a ip address” into the search engine. It turned out that the default address is different, as, in fact, the login with the password.

2. In the window that appears, enter the login admin and the password admin.

Usually these data are suitable (if no one specifically changed them). But there may be other options, such as root or user. They are usually written on the router itself - on a sticker on the other side.

3 . Open the tab Wireless (Wireless mode) or WLAN and look for the password there. Often it is located in the item Wireless Security (Security Settings or Wireless Protection).

As a rule, the password is written in the column where there is the word Key, Password or Password. Often, to see it, you need to uncheck it.

By the way, it happens that it is written immediately when you open the router settings.

If it didn't help

Then you can reset all router settings to factory settings. But in this case, you will have to configure it yourself: specify the Internet connection settings, network name and password.

To reset the settings on the router, there is a small, deeply hidden Reset button (usually located on the back).

We clamp it with some sharp object for ten seconds. After that, all settings will be reset, and the router will be as good as new - all that remains is to configure it.

Sometimes each of us is faced with such a problem as a forgotten wifi password. You bought a laptop or a tablet, or maybe a friend with a laptop came to you, but you don’t remember the wifi password.

As an option, you have to sort through some combinations that should fit, date of birth, mobile phone number or passport number. But after several unsuccessful attempts, the question arises, how to get wifi password.

And so, in order to see the Wi-Fi password on a laptop or computer with Windows 7, we do the following.

On a PC or a beech that has Internet, on the desktop, click on the Wi-Fi icon. In the window that opens, go to Network and Sharing Center.

Then click on the inscription Wireless network

A window will appear in which we click on Wireless network properties . In the next menu, select the bookmark Safety.

And going to another bookmark put a tick in the line Show input icons .

We look at the password for WiFi in Windows 10

To view the password from Wi-Fi on Windows 10, you need to click on the wifi icon on the taskbar and click on the menu in the menu that opens Network settings .

After that, a window will open in which you will see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Scroll to the very bottom and in one of the paragraphs we find a line with the name Network and Sharing Center .

After in the window that appears, click on the item Wireless network, and then Wireless network properties. After in the new window, click on the Security tab and check the box to display the entered icons.

Sometimes some users have some problems when viewing a forgotten password. There is no one of the menus described above in the article, or simply there is no device connected to a wifi network from which you forgot the password. The last option remains, this is to get into the settings of the router and look at the forgotten password there.

In certain cases, this is even easier than navigating through the above tabs on a computer. In order to find out your wifi password on the modem, we need to connect directly to the modem. This can be done with a twisted pair cable, which is available to every user for whom the company has installed a modem. If you bought the modem yourself, then the wire is included.

After you have connected the PC or laptop to the modem by wire, in the address bar of your browser we write the address 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1 depending on the model of the modem. After that, a menu appears in which you must specify a username and password. Login and password to access the modem settings initially most modems have the same admin and admin .

WI-FI at home has become a common thing for many, thanks to which you can access the Internet from any mobile device, watch a video or find the necessary information. Many smartphone owners ask how to view the WI-FI password on Android. This can be done using standard phone functions or using specialized programs.

In what situations is it necessary to find out the password

Let's say you or someone in your family bought a new phone or tablet. Naturally, it will be necessary to connect the device to your home Wi-Fi. Thanks to automatic remembering, most users do not remember the password, because it does not need to be entered each time.

It is also often necessary to give the Wi-Fi password to your friends. A great option if you have it saved somewhere on your computer or on a separate piece of paper. If there is no backup, then users have the opportunity to find out the combination from WI-FI on Android.

Using the standard functions of the gadget

The easiest way to find out the password from WI-FI is to look at it in the properties of the access point on android. As a rule, most smartphones allow you to see the current password in the wireless network settings. To do this, you must perform the following steps:

After that, you can find out the desired combination, and then save it on your computer or write it down in a notepad. This method is not relevant for all devices.

We use a router

One of the methods for finding out the password from Wi-Fi is to examine the settings of the router. It is there that you can find the combination you need. You can even get into the modem settings through your phone using a regular browser. To do this, follow the steps of the following instructions in sequence:

Here you can also change the security level and the password itself. However, this method is relevant if you have not changed the input data for the router. Otherwise, you will not be able to get into the settings.

Using file managers

The Android system stores the names of networks, as well as their passwords, in a special file that you can open and read if you wish. However, for this you will need to get Root user rights, since otherwise you will not be able to see and enter the system folders. You must first install one of the file managers, for example, RootBrowser, as well as the RB Text Editor program. After that, the steps are pretty simple:

You can perform similar actions using the popular application "ES File Explorer". To do this, it will be enough just to go to the necessary directories, and then view the file with passwords.

An equally convenient application is Wifi Password(ROOT), which can be downloaded from the official Google Play store. Its main advantage is that you do not need to search directories and open files. The application will do all this on its own, displaying a list of networks and passwords for them in a convenient form. You only need to click the Show password button in the top right corner.

WI-FI Password (ROOT) also requires superuser rights.

Find out the password on Android using a computer

If the phone settings turned out to be useless in this matter, and you do not want to get root rights, you can use the special utility for the WirelessKeyView personal computer. The program is distributed absolutely free of charge. There are versions for both Windows x86 and x64. The application is presented as a single executable file, so you don't have to install anything.

How to find out the password from your wifi router, if once, having connected the device to a wifi network, you never again had to enter it to connect.

It is precisely because it does not need to be constantly registered that some users forget WiFi passwords after a few months.

This article will discuss the simplest and most understandable ways to view using a PC or laptop, the router itself or a smartphone.

1. Viewing the password on a personal computer or laptop

The easiest and most understandable way to find out the wifi code is to use your PC or laptop.

For operating systems Windows-seventh, eighth and tenth versions, the code can be viewed in the network control center:

  • Right-click on the Internet connection icon, which is located at the bottom of the taskbar. Go to the network and sharing management window;
  • Go to the "Management" tab, as shown in the figure above. You will see a window with all types of connections available for the computer.
    Select from the list the network that matches the name of your router and use the right mouse button to go to the network properties tab;

  • Turn on the tab called "Security". In the "key" field, access to the router is registered in encrypted form, click the "display entered characters" checkbox to view the code in standard form.
Also in the window you can find out and configure the level of protection of the router against hacking and the type of data encryption.

2. View and change the password in the wifi router settings

Login and pass from wifi can be found and changed in the control window of the router.

In order to enter the settings manager, you must enter the local network address in the address bar of any browser on your computer.

Only users who have received root rights can view the password using a smartphone.
First, make sure that the wifi network of the router is present in the list of connections.

Using any file manager preinstalled on the phone, go to the folder directory and find, using the system search, the wpa_supplicant.conf file (it is located in the Misk -> Wifi folder).

Without changing the file format, open it with any text editor, as shown in the figure:

The strings that correspond to the network number and password are shown in the figure above. Below you can find a video describing this process.

How to find out the wifi password on a computer with Windows 7,8,10,XP,Vista

In this video: how to find out the password from your WiFi on your computer, provided that the computer is connected to wi-fi.

Hello.

Today, Wi-Fi networks are very popular, in almost every home where there is Internet access, there is also a Wi-Fi router. Usually, once you have set up and connected to a Wi-Fi network, you don’t have to remember the password for it (access key) for a long time, since it is always entered automatically when you connect to the network.

But then the moment comes and you need to connect a new device to the Wi-Fi network (or, for example, you reinstalled Windows and the settings on the laptop went wrong ...) - but the password is forgotten ?!

In this short article, I want to talk about several ways that will help you find out your Wi-Fi network password (choose the one that suits you best).

1. Windows 7, 8

The easiest and fastest way to find out the password from your Wi-Fi network is to look at the properties of the active network, that is, the one through which you access the Internet. To do this, on a laptop (or other device that is already configured with a Wi-Fi network), go to the network and sharing center.

Step 1

To do this, right-click on the Wi-Fi icon (next to the clock) and select this section from the drop-down menu (see Fig. 1).

Rice. 1. Network and Sharing Center

Step 2

Then, in the window that opens, we look through which wireless network we access the Internet. On fig. Figure 2 below shows what it looks like in Windows 8 (Windows 7 - see Figure 3). We click on the wireless network " Autoto»(The name of your network will be different).

Step 3

A window should open with the status of our wireless network: here you can see the connection speed, duration, network name, how many bytes were sent and received, etc. We are interested in the “ wireless network properties» - go to this section (see Fig. 4).

Rice. 4. Status of the wireless Wi-Fi network.

Step 4

Now it remains only to go to the tab " security", And then check the box next to" display input characters". Thus, we will see the security key for accessing this network (see Fig. 5).

Rice. 5. Properties of the wireless Wi-Fi network.

2. Windows 10

In Windows 10, an icon about a successful (not successful) connection to a Wi-Fi network is also displayed next to the clock. Click on it, and in the pop-up window open the link " network settings» (as in Fig. 6).

Then select your adapter that is responsible for the wireless connection and go to its " state"(Just right-click on it and select this option in the pop-up menu, see Fig. 8).

In the tab " Security"There is a column" Network security key"- this is the desired password (see Fig. 10)!

Rice. 10. Password from the Wi-Fi network (see the column "network security key") ...

Method number 2: we get the password in the Wi-Fi settings of the router

If in Windows you could not find out the password for the Wi-Fi network (or you need to change the password), then you can do this in the router settings. It is somewhat more difficult to give recommendations here, since there are dozens of router models and there are some nuances everywhere ...

Whatever router you have, you must first go to its settings.

The first nuance is that the address for entering the settings can be different: somewhere http://192.168.1.1/, and somewhere http://192.168.10.1/, etc.

I think a couple of my articles may be useful here:

  1. How to enter the router settings:
  2. Why can't I access my router settings?

1. How to find out the address of the router settings and enter them?

The easiest option is to also look in the properties of the connection. To do this, go to the network and sharing center (the article above describes how to do this). Go to the properties of our wireless connection through which the Internet is accessed.

Then click on the tab " details"(As in Fig. 12).

Rice. 12. Connection information

In the window that appears, look at the DNS / DHCP server lines. The address indicated in these lines (in my case 192.168.1.1) is the address of the router settings (see Fig. 13).

Rice. 13. Router settings address found!

2. How to find out or change the password in the router

TP-LINK

In TP-LINK, you need to open the Wireless section, then the Wireless security tab, and opposite PSK Password there will be the network key you are looking for (as in Fig. 14). By the way, lately there have been more and more Russian firmware, where it’s even easier to figure it out. 192.168.1.1, then enter your login and password: by default “ admin» (without quotes, enter both login and password fields, then press Enter).

2. Then you need to go to the section " WLAN Setup -> Security". In the settings, opposite the item "WPA / WAPI password", click on the link "display ..." (see Fig. 14). You can also change your password here.

Rice. 14. Router from Rostelecom - password change.

Whatever router you have, in general, you should go to a section similar to the following: WLAN settings or WLAN settings (WLAN means wireless network settings). Then replace or look at the key, most often the name of this line is like: Network key, pass, passwowd, Wi-Fi password, etc.

A simple tip for the future: get a notepad or notebook and write down some important passwords and access keys to some services in it. Also, it will not be superfluous to write down the phone numbers that are important to you. Paper will be relevant for a long time ( from personal experience: when the phone suddenly turned off, it was left as “without hands” - even work “got up ...”)!
