Connecting a TV to a computer via hdmi xp. We use a laptop as a monitor for a computer. Video: connect smartphone to TV via miracast

HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a standard that allows the transmission of high-resolution video data and copy-protected digital audio signals over several channels - stereo, quad or Dolby Surround.

Of course, to watch a movie in AVI, MPG, MP4, MOV format via a USB drive, it is not necessary to connect the TV to a PC. But if we are talking about Blu-ray or online management of files located on, then a direct connection is indispensable. Connection provides the following benefits:

  • Movies up to 1920×1080 at 60Hz, with audio: 24bit/192kHz.
  • Listen to music on Dolby Surround sound system;
  • Play games on the big screen;
  • Make presentations and more.

What you need to connect PC and TV

First of all, there must be appropriate connectors on the computer's video card and on the back of the TV.

This is what the incoming HDMI connector on the TV looks like.

That view has a computer video card with a similar connector.

In addition, you must have a cable to connect.

If you need to connect a TV located further away, you can use the HDMI Switch device. This device will help to double the connection range, in addition, it will enable the TV to receive a signal from several PC or laptop devices.

Switches are active - connected to power and passive, receiving power from the HDMI cable that is connected to them. The difference in price between them is significant 3-5 times, but for a full-fledged transmission of a high-quality signal, it is recommended to purchase a device with its own power supply.

There are also HDMI Splitter devices that can transmit the incoming signal to several TVs at once. They also come in passive and power-connected versions.

If the PC video card (see) does not have an HDMI connector, you can use an adapter from DVI to HDMI. Typically, such devices are equipped with splitters and are capable of transmitting a signal to several devices.

However, the scan in this case will be somewhat lower and “heavy” formats with a resolution of more than 1080p will be problematic to watch.

IMPORTANT! Before connecting, be sure to turn off both the TV and the PC from the power supply. Cases where HDMI ports burned out due to a short circuit are very common.

Setting up a computer when connected to a TV via hdmi

Enter the "Screen Resolution" window. This can be done through "Start" → "Control Panel" → "Display" → "Display Settings".

Or by right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop, select "Screen Resolution" from the menu that appears.

You can also use the universal method by pressing the Win + P keys - a window will appear as in the screenshot:

In Windows 10, this path is different: “Start” → “Settings” → “System”

The displayed window has several differences after the TV is connected. Firstly, this is an additional menu item - "Multiple Screens", in which there are 4 commands:

  1. Duplicate Screens
  2. Expand screens
  3. Show desktop only on first screen
  4. Show desktop only on second screen

You need to select the first item. But first you need to reduce the resolution of the computer monitor to the television. What specific maximum resolution the TV supports can be found in its operating instructions in the HDMI connection section. Why is this being done?

If you do not synchronize the image extensions on the monitor and TV, then on one of the devices it may turn out to be cut off.

After that, confirm the changed parameters "Apply"? "Save Changes" ? "OK".

Setting up a TV when connecting to a PC via hdmi

When you turn on the TV for the first time, there may be no picture on the TV. Instead, there may be several types of signals "Weak signal", "Cable not connected", or "Check cable connection or signal source setting".

To configure, go to the TV menu by pressing the source button.

In the dialog box that appears with a list of sources, select HDMI 2.

An exact copy of the image on the computer monitor appears on the TV screen.

Sound settings for hdmi connection

An HDMI cable transmits sound as well as picture. You can set to use TV speakers instead of PC speakers. To change the sound output device, follow the route: Right click on the speaker icon in the tray

I have long wanted to write a detailed review article on how to connect a computer to a TV with an HDMI cable. But to write about what I do not know, and have not tried, I consider it a deception. I decided to wait for an opportunity, and he soon introduced himself.

Mom loves to watch all sorts of popular science films on YouTube video hosting. But in this case, I have to download them, then transfer them to a USB flash drive, and connect it to the TV. Such a process takes a lot of time, not to mention the fact that there is aggressive wear on the computer's hard drive.

And then I decided that it was better to save the hard drive, buy an HDMI cable and connect one of my TVs, which does not have a Smart TV software shell and built-in Wi-Fi module, to a computer. Everything turned out to be much simpler than described on many computer-related sites.

Surely many of you have accumulated a lot of films downloaded from the Internet, which are much more convenient to watch on a large TV screen. And if the computer is also connected to the Internet, then you can watch any online TV shows, feature and documentary films, and colorful slide shows.

I will describe how to connect a computer to a TV with an HDMI cable in order. Perhaps some of you will find this useful.

Connecting a TV via an HDMI cable is the easiest to set up and does not require a separate audio cable. The transmission of both video and sound occurs over one cable, which is very profitable and convenient.

I will show and tell on the example of a TV SAMSUNG UE32F4000aw with a diagonal of 50 inches, not quite new, but not old either.

We will need:

  • HDMI cable
  • HDMI TV
  • video card with HDMI and DVI connectors

I had to buy 10 meters of HDMI cable, and it cost me one and a half thousand rubles. But compared to buying a new hard drive, this is nonsense.

We lay the HDMI cable from the computer to the TV, and connect it. My TV has two HDMI connectors.

The instructions for the TV say that you should connect the set-top box, VD player and PC to the connector HDMI2, which in my case is at the top.

Connect the cable to the computer and TV only when the devices are turned off, otherwise it will fail.

We connect the other end of the cable to the HDMI connector of the video card.

Fig. 4 HDMI connector on a discrete graphics card

Here's a little digression

Since I constantly work at a computer, and it is not very powerful for me, connecting a TV to it is not desirable. Otherwise, I will have to stop working and watch the same thing on the monitor as on the TV.

If my computer was more powerful, then it would be possible to set it up on two different monitors, one of which would be a TV and show movies, and on the second one could go about my business. To do this, it is better to have two video cards.

But since I have another computer, I made it a stand-alone TV set-top box. Therefore, the description below will refer to a single processor that can operate without a monitor.

To set up a TV connection, we need any working monitor. Once configured, it can be disabled and removed if you only use this computer for TV.

Connect the cable from the monitor to the video card connector DVI. When connected to a socket VGA monitor will not work.

Fig. 5 Built-in video card connectors on the back of the computer

If the cable from the monitor has a connector VGA then you need an adapter VGA-DVI. They usually come with the monitor.

DVI and VGA Connector (Blue)

Now you can turn on your computer and TV.

Press the button on the TV remote Source(View and select available video sources)

In the TV menu that opens, use the navigation buttons to select the source HDMI2DVI(because the HDMI cable is connected to this connector), and press the remote control button « Enter»

A message will appear that the source is not found or something like that. This is normal and there is no need to panic.

Now let's go to the computer settings.

On the computer (I have Windows 7 installed), right-click on the desktop and select the item " Screen resolution».

In the opened window " Screen settings"Press the button" Define". If the computer does not detect your TV, then check the connection source (button on the TV remote Source). I chose the wrong connector first HDMI.

Once in the field Screen» the name of the TV appears, you can continue to configure.

Set your TV to the correct screen resolution. Usually the computer itself suggests the correct solution, so do not be too zealous.

In settings " Multiple Screens» install « Duplicate these screens". The same picture should be displayed on the TV as on the computer.

Now you need to set up the sound.

Right-click on the sound settings icon in the system tray, and select " Playback devices».

In the window that appears available audio playback devices, select the TV and click the button below Default', and then the button ' Apply».

I have both a SAMSUNG monitor and a TV, so the program writes SAMSUNG-1.

All. Now you can enjoy watching your favorite series on your TV. If you want to watch TV shows, then press the Source button on the remote control and select TV as the source.

By the way, if you also have two computers, and they are, then the computer through which films will be shown on the TV screen can be controlled using special programs through your work computer. In this case, you will not need to connect a monitor to the first computer.

If you are interested in this topic, then write about it in the comments, and I will write an article and make a video on it.

I do not connect a monitor, but start the system unit and make all the settings directly on the TV using a wireless mouse and keyboard.

Many people who have a large plasma or LCD TV at some point think about connecting it to their computer or laptop. The opportunity to watch movies on the big screen is of great interest to many users.
First, let's get acquainted with the possible ways to connect these devices, then we'll figure out the settings of the video card, and at the end we'll look at how you can output sound via HDMI. For the simplest connection of the aforementioned devices, it is necessary to have only an HDMI cable, at the ends of which there are identical connectors.

Any, even the most inexpensive cable, is suitable, but keep in mind if you are going to use 3D mode, the version of the cable must be HDMI 1.4 or higher.
Locate the HDMI socket on the computer case as well as on the back of your TV. This is what the jack looks like on the back of the TV:

And this is the image of the nest on the side wall:

But such a socket should be looked for on the back surface of the computer system unit:

Such a socket is located directly on the video card, next to the connector for connecting a DVI or VGA monitor. If a discrete video card is not installed in your system unit, the socket will be located on the motherboard, near the USB ports.

It's easier with laptops, the HDMI socket always looks the same in them, it's just that in different models it can be on different sides:

Portable computer devices (tablets, netbooks, cameras, etc.) have mini-HDMI connectors that are three times smaller than a regular connector, so they need a mini-HDMI cable.

Many modern users have an LCD TV hanging on the wall, which makes it difficult to connect a massive cable to its back surface. For such cases, cables are provided, the plug in which is located at a right angle. You can also purchase a special HDMI corner if you wish:

With the help of such a corner, you can connect to the TV from behind or from the side. Some adapters even support the ability to adjust the angle and the bend in them is not straight, but in any direction. Before buying, decide which way the cable will come out after connecting it through the corner. Keep in mind that different cable models are oriented in different directions.

You won’t be able to connect without HDMI connectors (however, if you have a DVI monitor connector, you can use an adapter DVI-HDMI).

So, to connect the computer to the TV via the HDMI connector, we insert the cable all the way into both of these connectors. Before connecting, do not forget to unplug both devices from the mains, if you do not want your HDMI port to accidentally burn out! Moreover, the coincidence of a number of negative factors can even lead to damage to the TV, computer or laptop!

If there are no free ports on the TV, you can purchase a "switcher" (special HDMI switch). It connects to one of the inputs on the TV and supports the connection of several sources at once, you can switch between them using a button or a separate remote control:

It is not necessary to buy an expensive switcher for $50-100 or more in an online store, ordinary Chinese models that do not even need an external power supply work great. More expensive models are only for those users who plan to watch movies in high definition 1080p.

HDMI Setting

If you have connected only one TV, the picture should appear immediately. Please note: in order for the picture to be displayed on the TV screen, the monitor must be disconnected from the system unit, and not just turned off!

After Windows boots up, select the appropriate screen resolution. To do this, right-click on an empty space on your desktop and then select the one that suits you " Screen resolution».

Here you can choose the appropriate resolution. Higher resolution provides a clearer picture, but everything on the screen will be smaller. The system defaults to the maximum resolution supported by the device. If everything suits you, don't change anything. If you are not comfortable working with such a resolution: the font is too small and difficult to read, you can reduce the resolution, taking into account some nuances.

Some monitors and TVs are designed to show a certain number of pixels vertically as well as horizontally. If you set a non-standard resolution, your TV will be forced to scale it to display it on its matrix, which can lead to blurry pictures and poor image quality.

If your TV supports Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080), it will reproduce 1280 × 720 no less well, however, all fonts and details will be larger. Real TV resolution HD Ready is 1366x768, it makes no sense to set the resolution to 1920x1080.

On the Monitor tab, located at " Additional options”, you can set the required screen refresh rate. You can set 60 Hz or more (if your TV supports it):

If the video is not smooth enough or shaky during playback, you can experiment with this parameter by changing its value. Set the color quality to "True Color (32-bit)".

With any change in resolution, color depth or frequency, a window appears in which you need to confirm the changes. If your device does not work with the new settings, you will not be able to see this window and confirm your actions. Don't worry, in fifteen seconds the system settings of your computer device will be restored to their original settings.

Features of setting up multiple displays

If you connect a TV and a monitor at the same time, Windows 7/8 will consider that multiple displays are connected to the computer. There are 2 modes of simultaneous operation of multiple displays: cloning (duplication), as well as extending the desktop. This option is selected in the same tab where you set the permission.

Duplicating screen

The clone mode provides for the demonstration of the same desktop picture on both playback devices. To use this mode, it is desirable that the monitor and TV have the same resolutions, otherwise one of the devices will have to work with inappropriate settings. At least the devices must belong to the same format (for example, both widescreen) If the monitor is square (5:4 or 4:3), and the TV is widescreen (16:9, etc.), to the right and left pictures on the screen will be black bars.

Desktop extension

This mode makes it possible to have 2 desktops or more. That is, if both used displays are installed side by side, when moving, the mouse cursor will move from the TV to the monitor and vice versa.

The system assigns a number to each of the connected devices, which is displayed in front of its name. If you cannot understand which device is under which number, press the "Detect" button, after which a digit with its number will be displayed on each display:

Above you can see pictures of devices with numbers printed on them, indicating the location of these displays in space. By dragging these images with the mouse, you can change their order. With the corresponding checkbox, you can make any of the connected devices the main monitor.

For a computer and a TV connected to it via HDMI, you can set the frequency and screen resolution separately. The settings for AMD (ATI), NVidia, etc. video cards have their own options related to installing multiple displays. For example, when using an NVidia GeForce video card, right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, and then select the line " nvidia control panel". You can customize your monitors in the "Display" section:

How to output sound to the TV via HDMI?

After that, the problem with audio output via HDMI to the TV should be resolved. You just have to restart the programs you are using or completely restart your computer.

Many owners of both devices try to connect a computer to a TV via HDMI. Some get it right away, others have problems. Let's say right away that at first glance, it would seem that it is not a difficult task, but it can turn into many problems.

Connection problems

What are the common problems:

  1. There is a picture on both devices, but the sound on the TV responds;
  2. There is an image on the monitor, but it is not on the TV or there is an inscription, “Cable is not connected”;
  3. With a high resolution of the TV screen, for example, Full HD 1920x1080, the computer monitor distorts the image.

Terms and Conditions

Conditions under which it will be possible to connect a computer to a TV:

  1. The presence of an HDMI cable, preferably version 1.4 and higher if you need support for 3D mode;
  2. The presence of an HDMI output on a computer video card or laptop;
  3. If possible, support two devices of the same screen resolution;
  4. Installed OS Windows 7, 8, 10.

HDMI cable must be selected the correct length, the choice here is large, you can find cables up to 20 meters long.

Often the LCD TV is attached to the wall. For many, when connecting an HDMI cable to it, this causes difficulties, although everything is simple here, everything has already been invented before us.

Use, invented just for such a case.

The 90 bend can be in different directions, so before buying such a corner, consider where the cable will go.

You may also encounter the problem of the lack of HDMI output from the video card. Look, it can be built in somewhere else, for example, integrated into the system board.

If it is not there either, then it will not work to connect the computer to the TV, unless there is a second DVI output on the video card.

For this case, you can use a DVI-HDMI adapter as a solution to the problem.

If you want to connect other devices to the TV, for example, a camera, then it must have a mini-HDMI output. This also applies to tablets, netbooks, etc.

Accordingly, the cable must be appropriate.

If, for example, the TV has only one HDMI input, and there are many sources, for example, a computer, laptop, camera, tablet, etc., then you can additionally get an HDMI switch, the so-called “switcher”.

Using the special remote control included in the kit, you can quickly switch between data sources.

You can save money on switchers by buying a cheap Chinese version from 5 to 10 dollars. You can order directly from China, though you have to wait a couple of weeks.

They work no worse than those sold in our stores. And expensive models will be justified only if you often watch videos in Full HD quality.

What does the user get

By connecting the TV to a computer and other devices, it becomes possible to:

  • Watch videos of any format, from AVI, MP4, MOV to Full HD and Blu-ray, from the TV screen;
  • View slide show;
  • Play computer games;
  • Communicate on social networks and Skype;
  • Work with documents and programs;
  • View large format photographs;
  • Conduct online conferences and much more.

It is convenient, practical, modern.

When we figured out all these points, we proceed to connect the computer to the TV.

Connection process

Let's take TV as an example. An expensive model, but it doesn’t matter, in most cases the algorithm of actions is the same for both expensive models and cheap ones.

Wimdows 7 operating system, read how to install it.

We connect our HDMI cable to the appropriate sockets on a computer or laptop. At the same time, the monitor is connected to the computer via the DVI output.

ATTENTION- all devices must be de-energized, otherwise the HDMI ports may fail and then you will not connect anything anywhere.

The TV has four HDMI inputs, which is good news. One of them is visible in the photo.

We connect our cable to it. We carefully check that the connectors are tightly seated in the sockets.

We turn on both devices and watch the monitor and TV.

As a rule, such information appears on the TV screen:

  1. Cable not connected;
  2. Check the source setting and cable connection.

This situation needs to be corrected.

We take the remote control from the TV in our hands and press the button "Source" (Source), it is located at the top right.

In the menu that appears, select "External", and then press HDMI and confirm by pressing the button on the remote control located in the middle.

If everything is connected and configured correctly, then on the TV screen you should see the splash screen of the computer desktop.

If not, then the screen extension settings are not configured.

Here we are using the method − duplicating screen.

To change the settings anywhere on the computer desktop, right-click, and a window with a menu will appear.

Press " Screen resolution" and configure the settings as follows:

  • Screen - ½ multiple monitors;
  • Resolution - 1920 x 1080 (TV screen resolution, yours may be different);
  • Orientation - landscape;
  • Multiple Screens - Duplicate these screens.

For TV screens that support a resolution of 1920 x 1080, you can set the resolution to 1280 × 720, while the stash of folders and files on the TV will be displayed in large sizes.

Click "OK".

Such actions should correct the situation.

Screen resolution problem

The problem may arise in the mismatch between the resolution of the TV screen and the screen of the monitor or laptop.

For example, there is an LG 19M35A-B monitor that supports HD 1366 x 768 resolution, and we have a TV that supports 1920 x 1080 screen resolution in Full HD video format.

In this situation, it will not be possible to achieve an ideal picture simultaneously on both screens. Here you need to choose what is more important now and set such a resolution in the settings (see above).

Or get a monitor, for example, LG 22MP55D-P, which already supports Full HD 1920×1080 resolution and then you will have a perfect image on both devices.

Desktop extension method

This method is not suitable for everyone. It is necessary that in the settings of the video card of your computer there was an opportunity to configure the resolution of several displays.

Most NVidia video cards have such capabilities.

Again, right-click anywhere on the screen and go to "Screen Resolution" (see above).

  • We expose the main screen, for example, the BeenQ monitor;
  • Resolution 1280 x 1024;
  • Orientation - landscape;
  • Multiple screens - expand these screens.

No sound

Reason 1

Situations when there is no sound after connecting a computer to a TV are common.

It must be remembered that both video and audio signals are transmitted through the HDMI cable, and if the TV supports 3D, you need a cable version 1.4 and higher.

But, as a rule, this is not a hardware problem, but a software one. All settings are in Windows 7.

At the top, click on the "Sound" menu item.

By going to the next section, you may not see the device we need there.

To make it appear, right-click anywhere in the window and click "" in the additional window that appears.

We have Samsung - 1. We activate it by right-clicking and the "Enable" menu item. Don't forget to click OK.

Now the sound on the TV should appear.

Reason 2

The next reason for the lack of sound is the lack of support for high definition audio output.

To find out if this feature is currently supported by your computer, go to Device Manager.

To do this, right-click on the icon "Computer" - "Properties" - "Device Manager". Or press the Win+Pause hotkeys.

Pay attention to the item "", there should be as shown below.

If there is no such device, then reinstall the drivers on the video card or update them.

Reason 3

If the TV has several HDMI inputs, then, as a rule, the first of them is guaranteed to receive digital audio by default, while the other inputs need to be configured (depending on which TV model).

To do this, you need to delve into the settings of the TV and set the desired parameters.

Some moments

If you want the boot process to be displayed on the TV screen and not on the monitor screen when the computer boots, then disconnecting the latter from the network will not be enough, it must be disconnected from the DVI output.

Outcome

Summing up, we can say that connecting a computer to a TV is not difficult, it is enough to get an HDMI cable of the right length and have the necessary inputs and outputs on both devices.

At the same time, hardware problems, as a rule, are quite rare, basically you need to know how to correctly set certain settings in Windows 7 in the TV settings interface.

Video on connecting a laptop to a TV.

Under ideal conditions, all work will take you up to 10 minutes.

I would be grateful if you share this article on social networks:

Watching movies or YouTube videos, playing video games, editing documents on a large display is much more pleasant. Especially when you consider that in our era, LCD TV is gaining more and more popularity. Connecting a computer to such a screen will not require too much effort. Next, we will look at how to connect hdmi to a TV from a computer. To do this, you only need to make sure that the necessary outputs are present on the devices and use the most convenient method for this.

Connectivity Benefits

The larger the space and dimensions of the workplace on the screen, the more convenient it is to view video files and the better the picture in gaming applications, as well as the more comfortable working with office and graphics programs. A movie broadcast from a computer to a large screen will provide an opportunity to consider the smallest details. Well, fans of active computer games will feel all the realism of the ongoing actions on a large TV matrix.

In fact, there are many positive aspects of using such a combination of devices. And most often they relate to creating a comfortable working environment or entertaining the owner.

Connecting the TV to a personal computer or laptop, it becomes possible to:

Now most users are interested in the ability to view IPTV. After all, why spend money on cable TV or watch an uncertain reception of an on-air signal, if it is possible to contemplate your favorite TV channels for free from the official page of the television company? For this reason, the question more and more often arises: “how to connect a TV to a computer via an HDMI cable?”.

Requirements, under which it is possible to connect a personal computer to a TV screen:

The HDMI cable must be long enough. The assortment here is huge, there is even an opportunity to find a cable up to 20 meters in size. Often the LCD TV is placed on the wall. And therefore, for most users, if an HDMI cable is connected to a TV, this creates problems. Although there is a simple and convenient solution.

Look for a 90 degree angled HDMI adapter designed for this exact purpose. The direction and shape of its bend is different. For this reason, before purchasing this adapter, consider which side it will have an input and output.

It may also be that the PC video adapter does not have an HDMI output. Look for it above on the panel coming out of the motherboard, as the graphics card may be built into it. When there is no such port anywhere, then you will have to connect the PC to the TV in a different way. To do this, you need to find a DVI standard video output on your computer.

In this case, you will have to purchase an additional HDMI to DVI adapter. If other types of devices, such as a camera, are connected to the TV, they must have a mini-HDMI port. This applies to tablets as well as other compact devices.

Naturally, another cord is needed. For example, if the TV has only one HDMI port, and you need to connect many devices, such as a system unit, laptop, camera or other gadget. Then you need to buy an additional HDMI-switch. And using the remote control included in its kit, you can very conveniently change the video signal sources.

On such a device, you can save money by purchasing an inexpensive model made in China. This option can cost up to 10 US dollars. You can order directly from China. Although it will take several weeks to wait for delivery. Such devices work quite well and stably. But more expensive HDMI switches are suitable in situations where you need a high-quality Full H. D. or 3D video signal.

Connecting a TV as a Monitor

Be careful! When connecting a PC, all devices must be turned off, otherwise the HDMI interfaces may be damaged. And with this outcome, there will no longer be an opportunity to view the video signal on TV, and in the worst case, the video adapter or TV board will burn out.

As an example, consider the Samsung UE55F6500 TV model. Pretty popular pattern. Basically, the connection procedure is the same for both expensive products and inexpensive ones.

Connect the HDMI cable to a suitable socket on the computer. In this case, the monitor is connected to the video card using the DVI output.

The Samsung UE55F6500 has 4 HDMI ports. We connect to one of them with a cable from the computer. We carefully control that the connections are quite tight. We start the TV and PC and see what happens on both screens.

Most likely, the inscription will appear on the TV matrix:

  • "Cable not connected";
  • "Weak signal or none";
  • Check the computer's video signal and cable connection.

This problem needs to be corrected. First, use the TV remote control to switch the signal source using the “Source” button, it should be located at the top of the D.U. A menu will appear in which you need to select an item called “External”, and then select HDMI and press the OK button located in the center.

If you have everything connected and set up correctly, then the wallpaper on the Windows desktop will be displayed on the TV screen. If this does not happen, then the screen extension parameters are probably set incorrectly.

In this case, you must use the "screen mirroring" mode. To find and use it, you need:

For television matrices operating at a resolution of 1920 by 1080, a resolution of 1280 by 720 is allowed. However, in this state, the scales of icons, folders and files on the TV screen will become larger and will not be so convenient to work with. But if there is no way out, then click "OK" and use this option. In this way, you can fix the connection problem that has arisen.

If everything is done correctly, this procedure will take you about 10 minutes.

Possible difficulties

When connecting a PC to a TV, the following problems may occur:

  1. When connecting a high resolution screen such as "1920×1080", the image on the monitor is distorted.
  2. There is a picture on the monitor, but only the message "Cable not connected" is displayed on the TV.
  3. There is an image on two screens, but the TV has no sound.

Incorrect resolution problem

This problem may occur due to a mismatch between the TV video resolution settings and the settings on the monitor or laptop.

For example, there is an LG monitor operating at a resolution of 1366 by 768, and a TV with a matrix that supports the characteristics of a 1920 by 1080 screen is also connected. In this case, it will not work to get an ideal image on two devices at once. Here you need to decide what is more important at the moment. And set such screen parameters that will correctly display the picture on the device you have chosen.

Or purchase a monitor with the best performance that can support Full H.D resolution. In this combination, a perfect image without distortion will appear on all screens at once.

No sound on the connected device

First reason

Cases when sound does not appear after connecting a computer to an additional screen are not uncommon. It must be remembered that with the help of an HDMI cable, not only video is output to the TV, but also an audio signal. And to view 3D videos, you need a 1.4 standard cord. However, most often this is a non-technical problem. Here the reason is the incorrect configuration of the operating system. To eliminate it, you need to perform the following actions:

After such actions, the audio signal will appear.

The second reason

Another reason for the unavailability of the audio signal is the lack of support for high-definition audio. To find out if there is such a function on the computer, and whether it is currently enabled, you need to go to "Device Manager". To do this, you need:

Third reason

When a TV has multiple HDMI ports, the default one listed first must support digital audio. Other HDMI sockets may need to be configured. It all depends on the TV model.

To establish sound reception on the remaining ports, you should look for the necessary settings in the TV menu and set the desired mode.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it should be noted that it is not difficult to connect a computer to a TV. To do this, you just need to purchase an HDMI cable of the required length and find HDMI sockets on the paired devices. However, technical difficulties generally occur quite rarely. In most cases, you just need to understand how to properly configure OS Windows 7, as well as set the correct parameters in the TV menu.
