Hdmi viewing. Connecting the TV to a computer and laptop via HDMI. Connection setup for Windows XP

I welcome everyone! The "seven" has many of its "branded" troubles, which are not always easy for ordinary users to deal with. But we will help you with this! So, the topic of today's lesson is setting up an HDMI cable.

  • We will look at how to connect the cable;

  • What settings in Windows need to be activated;

  • Detailed at the end of the article Video instruction.

After you have connected the HDMI cable to your laptop / computer and TV, right-click on the “Desktop” and select the “Screen Resolution” line from the drop-down menu. By the way: at the moment when you have connected the cable, you will see a window in which the “Screen Settings” field and a circle divided into two parts, with numbers 1 and 2. Set the settings in the required fields, such as: “Screen ”, “Permission”, etc. Next, in the "Multiple screens" field, set the "Duplicate these screens" function. Now click on the "Apply" and "OK" button. Thus, you activate all the necessary settings for an adequate image.

Let's move on to the sound settings on the TV: these settings are made on the computer! Click on "Start" - "Control Panel". In the system settings window that opens, select the "Hardware and Sound" item. Click on it and select the options "Sound" - "Manage sound devices". By clicking on it, you get a separate "Sound" window. In this window, you should see the icon of the TV connected to the computer, for example "Samsung". A little lower in the same window you will see the "Speakers" option. We move the cursor over the TV icon (namely the TV, not the speaker) and click the right mouse button. A menu will pop up, in which we select the line "Use by default". Attention: if everything was done correctly, then a green “bird” should appear in the window near the TV. If you want to turn off the sound, then turning off is done in the "Speakers" window: right-click, select the "Set as default" line and click on it. Here is such a strange pattern. However, that's exactly how it works. Click "Apply" and "OK". By the way, it’s probably no longer a secret for you that you don’t need to buy a gps navigator if you have an android phone, you just need to

“What progress has come to ...”, - I want to sing, looking at the shelves of modern digital technology supermarkets. The age of new technologies is constantly changing everyday life, and today you can watch your favorite movie not with a nasal pirated translation, but in high quality HD or Blu-Ray. All you need is HDMI outputs on your TV and computer.

The first thing you need is an HDMI cable. Often it comes with a TV set. If not, you can buy a cable at any audio/video store. Consider in advance how long the cable you need. On the latest generation TVs, there are several HDMI connectors on the back. Connect one end of the cable to HDMI 2 and the other end to the HDMI connector on your computer or laptop. Don't worry if instead of the picture you want, you see a warning on the TV screen that the cable was not connected or there is no signal. How to proceed in this case is shown on the example of Samsung TVs. Find the Source button on the TV remote control and select HDMI 2 from the list provided. Perhaps at this stage the issue will be resolved, and the image will appear on the TV screen. If nothing has changed, go to the settings of the computer (laptop) - right-click on the free field of the desktop. A window will appear in which you need to select "Screen Resolution". Pay attention to the line "Multiple screens". If it has the option "Display desktop on 1 (2) monitors only", change it to "Duplicate these screens". In the "Screen" item, the inscription "Multiple monitors" should appear.

The desktop image will now appear on the TV screen. Attention: In order for the image on both screens to have perfect HD quality, the resolution of the TV and monitor screens must match. In this case, it will be set by default. But let's say your monitor doesn't support as high a resolution as your TV. Then set the desired resolution on the TV, as you will watch it. It is possible that you get a great picture but no sound. This problem is also solved quite simply: as a rule, the matter is in the wrong settings of the operating system, you will not need any additional cable. Select the "Sound" item in the "Control Panel" (you can use one of the screens for this). If there is no name of your TV in the sound settings window, right-click the settings menu and check the boxes next to "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices". Next, check the box next to the name of the TV and turn off other functions (computer speakers and other devices). Confirm the task by clicking "Apply" and "OK". Your TV is now playing sound.

Not that everything was better before, but clearly easier.
The abbreviation HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface, that is, a high-definition multimedia interface.

By connecting the monitor via HDMI, you can find that the image is very blurry, does not occupy the entire screen area - there are black stripes (fields) along the edges and there is no required clarity.
Moreover, we see such a picture both during boot, and in the BIOS, and in Windows.

First of all, we make sure that the HMDI cable is in good condition and its length should not exceed 5 m.

Disable autoscaling on the monitor.
You may have to select the "Fit to screen" option in the monitor menu.

If the computer has a video card, built-in or external, AMD Radeon, then we try to fix the image using the AMD Vision Control Center (Catalyst Control Center) drivers.
We find the item "My Digital Flat-Panel" and select the sub-item "Scaling Options".

A slider will appear, which must be moved to zero.

The image should now be back to normal.
If you update or reinstall drivers, you will have to repeat the procedure.

If you have an Nvidia video card, then you need to launch the Nvidia Control Center (Nvidia Control Panel) by clicking on the tray icon or by right-clicking on the desktop and select the appropriate item.

When connecting the TV to the computer, the TV and the computer must be turned off, only then connect the HDMI cable.
Turn on the TV first, then the computer.
Switch the TV to HDMI signal display mode.

Modern flat screens are able to display an image without distortion over the entire surface, including the edges.
Yet many televisions use what is called Overscan technology: the image is electronically enlarged by approximately 5% and cut off at the edges so that LCD and plasma TVs show the same part of the image as CRT.

As a result, the number of pixels of the video card and the screen does not always match - the sharpness of the image deteriorates.
In this case, even the "Taskbar" of Windows may be in an invisible part of the screen.

Most TVs allow you to disable this zoom.
On some models this feature is called "Underscan", on others "Only Scan" or "Pixel for Pixel".

But it also happens that the Overscan function is always active when connected via HDMI and DVI.
Many graphics cards smooth this out by reducing the overall image.
At the same time, the entire “Desktop” of Windows fits on the screen, but, unfortunately, pixel-perfect image transmission is impossible.
Thus, TVs with a switchable Overscan feature are preferred.

If no monitor is connected to the computer, you may see that the resolution on the TV does not match the screen or remains black.
Connect additionally to the system unit via VGA or DVI monitor.
It will show the image and this will allow you to set the correct resolution for the TV in the video card driver.

Finally, if the previous options did not help, try connecting the TV via a DVI -> HDMI adapter to the DVI output of the video card, but the sound will have to be connected via a separate cable to the TV or output from the computer to the speakers.

1. Make sure your computer and TV are turned off.

1. We connect one end of the HDMI cable to the TV in the HDMI connector, the other to a laptop or desktop computer.

2. Turn on both devices.

3. On the TV, you need to select the signal source.
There must be a special button on the remote control, usually it is labeled INPUT or SOURCES or HDMI (see the instructions for the TV).
Click on it and select the HDMI connector to which you connected the cable as the source.

4. On the computer, press the +[P] keys simultaneously. 5. In the “Project” window that appears, select the type of projection, depending on your preference:
- Computer screen only (Display desktop on first screen only)
- Repeating (Duplicate screens)
- Expand (Expand screens)
- Second screen only (Display desktop on second screen only).

You may need to adjust (change) the screen resolution on your computer to a resolution supported by your TV (see your TV manual).
If you do not synchronize the image extensions on the monitor and TV, then on one of the devices it may turn out to be cut off.

6. Confirm the changed parameters "Apply" - "Save changes" - "OK"

7. For the correct sound connection, you need to right-click on the sound control icon on the taskbar (notification area - tray) on the computer and select "Playback devices".

There are several situations when you need to connect a TV to a computer via an HDMI or USB cable. Fortunately, modern TVs fully support this feature. But first you need to clarify in what specific capacity you want to use this bundle. Well, for example, you can simply use the TV instead of the monitor. This method is the most common, and when a user enters a query on the topic of our article in a search engine, he usually needs this information.

How to connect a TV to a computer instead of a monitor?

Quite often there are situations when it is advisable to connect a TV to a computer in order to have a larger monitor instead of a small screen. For example, if you're playing a game, it's much nicer to see everything on a large display. Or if you want to watch a movie from the Internet directly on your TV, but your zombie maker does not support an Internet connection.

There is a situation when the computer has only a DVI digital output, and the TV has HDMI, how to connect them in this case, because DVI is not designed to transmit sound? There is a way out, but it does not always work - you can try using a dvi-hdmi adapter connected to your computer. And already connect the hdmi cable to it and stretch it to the zombie. At the same time, to transmit sound, you need to transfer the audio signal from the built-in S / PDIF sound card connector (if it is available, of course) through the internal cable to a similar video card connector so that it is also fed into the DVI output. I repeat - this option may not work on all models of motherboards and video cards, so it's better to choose simpler methods.
